Read Book... or Guitar Hero?

So you most likely know what this post is about, if you don't then... well I don't know. But today after school I was on a mission to finish my last book so I can finally turn back to the wondrous world fiction books. So after 20 minutes of playing Guitar Hero (with utter jaw dropping talent I might add) guilt and nervousness kicked in and I was forced to read my book. AND I FINISHED! So this is my salutation and my official announcement that I will no longer be blogging. So I bid you all adieu and give you a thank you for reading my blog.

India or Bust

What actress has literally traveled to every corner of the earth and not just because of movie roles? Shirley Maclaine! This woman is so amazing she's been all over the place. Normally I would list the places off but I'll tell you what, pull down a map of the world and there you go. She has practically been to all of those places. It's really ironic actually because with in the first few pages of her book she chatters on about how she doesn't like traveling anymore! (That's complete lunacy if you ask me)
On a completely random and un-related note the format in which this book was published was really enjoyable. Instead of chapter after chapter she gives a one or two page blurb about how she as overcome and gotten over some aspects of life. Shirley has this amazing gift to state something in a way that makes you look at it in a whole new light.

The Mix

I know any one reading this blog is probably tired of me falling in love with every book I read. But hold in for One More Time (ha ha it's a pun!) because this book keeps getting better. I love how Carol can recall incidents from her childhood with such detail and now that I am so close to the end I think it will be a mix of emotions to finish it. I am happier because I am one step closer to finishing my project yet, sadder that this marvelous story has to end. Well later on today I will have to make my way to the mall to purchase my Shirley Maclaine book. And as soon as I hand over that wad of cash the competition is on. Carol is the clear winner of the best author but will the crazy antics of Shirley take the cake? Stay tuned!

OMW (oh my word)

Today in my band class the cement on my bilingual retainer practically disintegrated and my retainer was in state of constantly pricking my tongue. (Quite painfully I might add) So to my dismay I had no choice but to sit out of band and read my Carol Burnett book. You know how rare it is to come across a book that makes you actually laugh out loud? Well look no further, Carol Burnett's autobiography One More Time it the perfect mix of disheartening disasters counteracted with a whirl wind of hilarity. I'm sure my band class thought of me as some kind of insane but I forgot about being a self-conscious teenager and let the laughs flow freely. Which passage you ask? Well, I won't tell you what it was about but I can tell you it involves a church, a dead fox and a puddle! But the whole point of this website is to interest you in these books right? So go find the book for yourself and pick out your favorite passage.

The Sad Topic Of Death

Weird title? Yea I know... but I realized a morbid motif in all of these wonderful novels I am reading. Death. No I'm not one of those freaky worship death kids but I do realize it's an important part of life. Oh. Wait. Back to the motif. Betty White had both of her parents die expectantly on her in such a close proximity to each other, it devastated her world. And after two failed marriages Betty's husband Allen who she had been with most of her life died of cancer leaving Betty alone. Lucille had her dad die and her motherly grandmother wasted away while Lucy had to take care of the younger children in her family. But the more up lifting motif is that these women are strong and didn't let this sort of soul shattering Armageddon slow down their dreams of getting what they want out of life. I think ALL Americans can take a page out of their book (ha ha I know its "punny") and learn not to let obstacles stop them from living their life.

Ca-winky-dink?

Today I spent the good part of my day at Aspiring Actress' house working on this project. While surfing around on some Carol Burnett sites I found out an extremely funny coincidence. Back in the day Carol Burnett and Julie Andrew's were close friends! I absolutely loved the parallel of situations, now I wish i could add Julie to my collection of stars. But when I thought I couldn't fall in love with her project even more she played a YouTube video of her other star Kristin Chenoweth on the Ellen show! I wont be describing the video because I will leave you to hunt down her blog to see it. Go ahead do it. Some might say I'm jealous of her people but I can only think of how cool it is that our projects are linked like this:)

Never Have I Been So Happy About Postal Service!

Now I have to finish my Lucille book because guess what came by mail to my place of living? One More Time! (That's my Carol Burnett autobiography) Now I'm waiting for the un-easy rushed feeling to set in so I can begin the frenzied rush to finish Love, Lucy. I desperately hope that the pattern of each book being better than the last will continue on throughout this project. Because sadly as much as I love learning about these wonderful women, if I continue reading these books at this pace I won't finish this book until summers good and gone! I wonder if Mrs. Anderson will go for the idea of me turning my QUARTER project in to an assignment to be completed during the summer. For some reason I have my doubts...
